2024 Lexus RX Air Filter in Grapevine, TX

The 2024 Lexus RX engine air filter sits inside the air box in the engine bay, ahead of the intake tube.

This location lets the filter screen dust before air reaches the turbocharged 2.4L inline-4. At Park Place Lexus Grapevine in Grapevine, TX, we open the air box, inspect the seal and housing, and ensure proper fitment so unfiltered air cannot bypass the element.

• Engine bay air box with clipped or fastened lid
• Upstream of the mass airflow (MAF) sensor
• Checked for debris and proper gasket seating

The 2024 Lexus RX cabin air filter is typically located behind the glove box in the HVAC intake.

This position captures pollen and fine dust before air moves through the vents. Our technicians carefully remove the access panel, verify airflow direction arrows, and seat the filter to maintain quiet, efficient ventilation for passengers.

• Accessed via glove box area
• Protects HVAC evaporator from debris
• Ensures correct airflow and noise levels

The engine air filter protects the 2.4L turbo engines intake air, while the cabin air filter cleans the air you breathe inside the RX.

Both are essential but serve different systems. The engine filter supports combustion quality and sensor accuracy; the cabin filter supports comfort and air quality. We verify each filters condition separately during service in Grapevine.

• Engine filter: intake protection and MAF sensor health
• Cabin filter: HVAC airflow and odor reduction
• Different locations and service procedures

Common signs include reduced engine power, lower MPG, rough idle (engine filter) and weak airflow or musty odors (cabin filter).

Because the RX relies on precise airflow for its turbocharged engine and HVAC system, a restricted filter can quickly affect drivability or comfort. If you notice these symptoms in North Texas driving, book a quick check.

• Engine: sluggish acceleration, increased fuel use
• Cabin: diminished vent output, dusty smell
• Visible debris on the filter media

Yesthe engine filter is often DIY-friendly, while the cabin filter may require trim removal and careful re-seating.

Many owners can release the engine air box clips and swap the filter. The cabin filter access behind the glove box is tighter and benefits from experienced hands to avoid broken tabs and noise issues. Dealer service adds inspections you may not get at home.

• OEM-spec filter fitment and airflow check
• Air box/MAF visual inspection
• Old filter disposal included with service

Yesa saturated cabin filter can cause musty or dusty odors from the vents.

When the filter media loads with pollen and debris, moisture can linger and create unpleasant smells. Replacing the filter and verifying proper airflow direction restores fresh ventilation. If odor persists, additional HVAC cleaning may be recommended.
