2022 Lexus NX 250 Air Filter in Grapevine, TX

The 2022 Lexus NX 250 engine air filter sits inside a sealed air box within the engine bay.

This enclosure feeds clean air to the 2.5L inline-4, helping the engine maintain smooth intake flow and performance. On the NX 250, the air box opens with a few clips or screws for quick inspection and replacement. Our Grapevine service team checks the housing for debris and proper sealing to prevent unfiltered air from bypassing the element.

• Sealed air box in the engine bay; top cover is clip/screw secured
• Protects the 2.5L I-4 intake from dust and debris
• Housing seal and intake snorkel inspected during service

The engine air filter protects the 2.5L I-4s intake, while the cabin air filter cleans HVAC air for passengers.

In the NX 250, the engine filter supports combustion quality and helps sustain power delivery, whereas the cabin filter targets pollen, dust, and road contaminants before air reaches the interior vents. Both are serviceable items, and each affects comfort and longevity in different ways. Keeping both filters fresh supports fuel efficiency and interior air quality in North Texas conditions.

• Engine filter = intake protection for performance and efficiency
• Cabin filter = cleaner HVAC airflow and reduced odors
• Each filter lives in a different location and service interval

Watch for reduced power from the 203-hp engine and weak HVAC airflow or musty odors inside the cabin.

When the engine air filter is restricted, your NX 250 may hesitate under acceleration or idle roughly as the 2.5L inline-4 struggles for clean intake air. A dirty cabin filter commonly shows up as diminished vent flow, increased fan noise, or persistent interior smells. North Texas dust and seasonal pollen can load filters faster, so periodic checks help catch issues early.

• Performance: sluggish acceleration or uneven idle
• HVAC: weaker airflow, louder fan, lingering odors
• Visual: dark, debris-laden filter media

Yestwo filters are serviceable: the engine filter is typically DIY-friendly; the cabin filter may require trim removal behind the glove box.

Many owners can open the engine air box and swap the element with basic tools. The cabin filter on the NX 250 is accessed through the glove box area and can involve panel manipulation that benefits from technician care. Dealer service adds OEM-spec parts, housing seal checks, and an intake/MAF visual to safeguard drivability.

• Engine filter: quick access through top air box lid
• Cabin filter: glove box access; clips/panels to manage
• Dealer adds OEM part verification and sealing checks
