2022 Lexus ES 350 Air Filter in Grapevine, TX

The 2022 Lexus ES 350 engine air filter sits in a sealed airbox inside the engine bay ahead of the 3.5L V6 intake.

This placement allows the filter to screen debris before air reaches the ES 350’s 302-hp intake tract for consistent performance. Open the hood and look for a rectangular housing with clips or screws; that’s the airbox. Our Grapevine team can confirm access points and inspect the housing seal to prevent unmetered air leaks.

• Located in the engine bay within a rectangular airbox
• Upstream of the throttle body on the 3.5L V6 (code 6VNAG3.5)
• Access typically via clips or screws on the airbox lid

The 2022 Lexus ES 350 cabin air filter is located behind the glove box inside the HVAC housing.

This position filters outside air before it reaches the vents, removing dust and North Texas pollen to keep the cabin fresh. Access commonly requires lowering the glove box and sliding out a small filter tray. If you prefer, our Grapevine service advisors can handle the swap and reset any HVAC door alignment if needed.

• Behind the glove box in the HVAC intake path
• Access via removable filter door/tray
• Keeps vent air cleaner for occupants

The engine filter protects the 3.5L V6s intake air, while the cabin filter cleans HVAC air for passengers.

Under the hood, the engine filter screens debris to support smooth power delivery and fuel efficiency. Inside, the cabin filter traps dust and allergens for cleaner breathing, important during high-pollen seasons around Dallas–Fort Worth. Both are vital, but they serve different systems and are serviced in different locations.

• Engine filter = combustion air quality and MAF sensor protection
• Cabin filter = HVAC airflow quality and odor reduction
• Different shapes, materials, and replacement procedures

Common signs include reduced power, poorer fuel economy, and rough idle for the engine, plus weak airflow and musty odors from the vents for the cabin.

Dusty construction zones and seasonal pollen around Grapevine can load filters faster. The ES 350s 3.5L V6 is sensitive to intake restriction, and the HVAC system needs free-flowing air to defog windows quickly. If you notice these symptoms, book a quick check and replacement.

• Engine: sluggish acceleration; higher fuel use
• Cabin: low blower output; stale or dusty smell
• Visible dirt on filter media when inspected

Yesthe engine filter is usually DIY-friendly; the cabin filter needs glove box access and careful reassembly.

Many owners can unclip the engine airbox, swap the element, and reseal it. The cabin filter is behind the glove box and may involve trim tabs; incorrect reinstallation can rattle or restrict airflow. Our Grapevine technicians also inspect the intake housing and MAF area and install Lexus Genuine filters to factory spec.

• DIY possible for engine filter with basic tools
• Cabin filter access behind glove box can be tricky
• Dealer adds OEM-spec fitment and intake/MAF checks
